We’ve Been Grounded!

We boarded the plane last night at 10:15 and settled into our pods so excited for the flight and a comfortable place to stretch out and sleep in business class.

About 11 o’clock, once boarding was done, the captain announced there was a software problem and we couldn’t take off until it was fixed. He said that he would get back to us in thirty minutes but he doubted he would know anything by then and he didn’t. Two hours later they said we were grounded and not leaving.

We gathered our stuff and walked through two terminals filled with people everywhere! Literally thousands of passengers were stranded in the airport and nobody knew what to do or where to go. Every seat was filled. People were sitting and sleeping on the floor. Thank goodness we saved our frequent flyer miles and had access to the Flagship Lounge.

So here we sit 24 hours since we left Chicago waiting for our new flight at 10 o’clock tonight. But this is the adventure and new memories of travel. Sitting here so long we’ve sampled all the food (the omelets were excellent) and beverages and even had our first airport showers!

By the way – did you know there’s a Game Show channel that show all the old game shows 24 hours a day! Our favorite is the one with Richard Dawson and Betty White. A true blast from the past!
